The deadline for the receipt of applications for programmes listed below has been extended up to 31st March 2014.
The programme fee can be paid in full or in two installments (50% at the registration and 50% at the beginning of the second semester) or in three installments (1st installment at the registration, 2nd installment after 4 months from the date of registration and 3rd installment after 8 months from the date of registration).

	M.Sc. in Applied Statistics (Course Content) (Application)This M.Sc. programme provides an adequate coverage of basic statistical theory, applications in design of experiments and surveys, data analysis and methods of presentation and interpretation of results. At the completion of the programme, the candidate will be able to fit in as an applied statistician in a research institute, planning institute or other state or private sector institute. (Programme Fee - Rs. 100,000/-).
	M.Sc. in Clinical Biochemistry (Course Content) (Application)This M.Sc. programme focusses on developing clinicalbiochemists with evaluative, innovative, and creative capabilities. After successful completion of this programme, the students should be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge in Clinical Biochemistry, show the highest level of competency in analytical techniques, methodology, upkeep and use of instruments, update Clinical Laboratory Technology, function in an administrative, supervisory and advisory capacity and work as team members with medical and paramedical personnel to deliver better healthcare. 	M.Sc. in Disaster Management* (Course Content) (Application)conducted jointly with the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya This M.Sc. Programme gives an opportunity for graduates with different backgrounds to gain a focused understanding of disaster management and mitigation. The programme has, as its long term objective, the sustainable training of well accomplished professionals who would be available to carry out activities related to hazard, vulnerability, risk analysis and mitigation. Their skills achieved in participatory risk assessment techniques, forecasting methods, environmental management and GIS applications should indeed satisfy the aspirations of Sri Lanka’s Disaster Management efforts. Visiting experts from ITC (The Netherlands), Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre - ADPC (Thailand), SCRIPP’s Institute of Oceanography (USA), and other foreign countries also conduct several course modules and laboratory sessions. A limited number of scholarships may be available for applicants from government service, and opportunities for overseas training may be provided for students who perform well. 	M.Sc. in Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology (Course Content) (Application)The programme is designed to provide the geologists, engineers and other scientists a sound theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering, geological and hydrogeological principles. In Sri Lanka, at present there is a growing need to improve her infrastructure facilities with particular reference to construction of buildings, roads, railways, bridges, sub-way tunnels, overpasses etc., and to develop energy and water resources to meet the requirements of an increasing population. It is important to emphasize that these goals could be achieved only by those having a sound knowledge of geological principles and their applications to civil engineering practices. This programme will be conducted jointly with the Department of Geology and the Department of Civil Engineering. (Programme Fee - Rs. 125,000/-).
	M.Sc. in Environmental Science (Course Content) (Application)This M.Sc. programme encompasses environmental aspects of all areas of science. It covers advanced training in air pollution, water pollution, environmental impact assessment, cleaner production, waste management, etc. It is intended for those aspiring to become environmental scientists and managers, and also for those who need to improve their skills and knowledge. 	M.Sc. in Experimental Biotechnology (Course Content) (Application)This M.Sc. programme provides advanced knowledge and training in biotechnology that could be applied in the fields of medicine, agriculture, environment, pharmaceuticals, and biomedical research and industry. The main emphasis of this uniquely designed programme is to impart a sound knowledge in hands-on skills in the experimental aspects of Biotechnology. 	M.Sc. in Fish and Wildlife Management (Course Content) (Application) The M.Sc. programme is designed to provide the graduate student with the necessary theoretical and practical background in fish and wildlife management. It will provide the necessary background to the fish and wildlife managers as well as to those who are involved in research in these fields. (Programme Fee - Rs. 125,000/-).
	M.Sc. in GIS and Remote Sensing (Course Content) (Application)This M.Sc. programme is uniquely designed to train students from a range of disciplines - physical and biological sciences, geography, engineering, medicine, veterinary science, agriculture, management, IT/ICT, architecture, social sciences, surveying, defense, etc. The programme will give an all-round knowledge of GIS, Remote Sensing and GPS, and will also cover current technological developments in those areas. It is designed to produce high quality graduates who will be able to solve local, regional and global problems using GIS and Remote Sensing. Visiting experts from ITC (The Netherlands) and AIT (Thailand) conduct several course modules both locally and abroad. Training will be provided at the GIS and RS Laboratory of the PGIS, equipped with 50 computers. (Programme Fee - Rs. 125,000/-).
	M.Sc. in Industrial Mathematics (Course Content) (Application)This M.Sc. programme deals with developing mathematical models, finding solutions and interpreting the results of problems that come up in industry. The programme in designed to provide graduates with an adequate knowledge in mathematics, statistics, operations research and Scientific Computing and to provide opportunities for research in applications of mathematics to existing problems in industry. 	M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology (Course Content) (Application)Effective control of infective diseases requires a multi-pronged approach, central to which is the availability of a network of efficient and reliable microbiology diagnostic and reference laboratories, which requires persons trained in laboratory methodology, including molecular techniques which are being increasingly used for diagnostic and epidemiological purposes. The M.Sc. programme aims to produce scientists ready to apply modern methods of diagnosis of infective diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and other parasites and these scientists will be able to pursue a career in research or in diagnostic microbiology.
